Davao Medical School of Foundation (DMSF) is one of the largest medical university in the Philippines teaching MBBS to students from both Philippines and abroad. It is recognized by WHO, MCI, and many more international professional groups. Davao Medical School of Foundation has formed into a huge scale, a well-managed comprehensive university with good MBBS teaching staff. It is one of those universities which is having an advanced system of education, and it trains students with the help of updated education technology of medical study. Davao Medical School of Foundation offers low-cost MBBS program. The university is preparing doctors from near by countries like India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and far abroad. It is one of the fastest growing international university in the region imparting both MBBS and education in other streams. The Davao Medical school is situated on a 2.5-hectare site near to the center of Davao City, which boasts of a stable climate, both in terms of its politics and its climate. There are five universities in the City as well as some schools and colleges. DMSF operates a College of Dentistry, an Institute of Primary Health Care (IPHC) and a Center for Education, Research and Development in Health (CERDH).

Students are affiliated to the Davao Medical Center, the Davao Doctors Hospitals, San Pedro Hospital, and Brokenshire Memorial Hospital for their clinical rotations in the third and fourth years of their courses. There are more than 125 Faculty members drawn from a wide range of medical specialties and the total number of students is around 1,058. DMSF is an attractive option for international medical students as it has a unique geographical location, the peace and order, and the political stability of Davao city. Nellie Kellog Van Schaick Scholarship Program

The main objective of this scholarship is to help the people of Mindanao by creating more doctors. The scholarship program also focuses on providing financial aid for students of DMSF who are unable to pay their tuition. There are more than 500 students who are now doctors due to this Nellie Kellog Van Schaick Scholarship program of the Davao Medical School Foundation. Implementation of Nellie Kellog Van Schaick Scholarship Program is done through the Scholarship Committee as recommended by the Dean of the DMSF. The committee consists of a minimum of three to five members with one as the Chairperson. The Committee members shall serve the office for a period of two years and may subject to reappointment.

Requirements for Scholarships

The scholarship committee should accept the students request for the scholarship program. For first-year students, the aspirant must have an average of 85 or better in their BS Degree. To maintain or renew the scholarship, Full scholars: an average of 82 or better without a grade less than 78 in any subject. Partial scholars: an average of 80 or better with NO grade below 75 in any subject. All the students who are applying for scholarships will be reevaluated yearly. Based on their academic performance or their financial needs, the scholarship committee may upgrade it from partial to full or downgrade from full to partial, or even discontinue the scholarship grant.

Students availing scholarship programs must

commit to serve the rural area after completing their studies and passing the licensure exam. be physically fit and must be of good moral character. be in need of financial assistance.

The same as those for the full scholar except that the scholar required to serve for a period equivalent to ¾ of the number of years enjoyed under the grant. An aspirant should submit a copy of their transcript of records. It is mandatory for the students applying for the scholarship to submit the income tax returns of their parents during the two (2) immediately preceding years and the latest BIR declaration of assets and liabilities. A certification of good moral character from the head of his/her school, or from the parish priest or church minister should be submitted. The student should also submit a medical certification stating their physical fitness. All the documents submitted during the interview will be subject to verification by the committee members. If the documents were found fake or duplicate the application will be rejected and no appeals for reconsideration is entertained. The student should submit the application to the Chairman of the Committee with the above documents to the secretary. An orientation program is conducted for the applicants and their parents/guardians. The interview will be conducted by the Scholarship Committee. Once the students are selected, he/she should sign the contract of the scholarship.

  • Full tuition and Miscellaneous Fees, Full Book Allowance with Board and Lodging Allowance. He or she must serve in a rural area approved by the DMSF for the period equivalent to the number of years enjoyed under the scholarship program.
  • Partial Scholar
  • Category A – Full Tuition and Miscellaneous Fees, Full Book Allowance without Board and Lodging Allowance.
  • Category B – Full Tuition and Miscellaneous Fees, without Book Allowance
  • Category C – 50% of Tuition and Miscellaneous fees, Full Book Allowance, No Board and Lodging Allowance.

  • The students are requested to maintain their grades for the yearly renewal of the scholarship program. All these details from mentors should be submitted to the committee on time for the next academic year.

Mandatory Documents

  • Admission to the Lyceum-Northwestern University may be granted to those students who present valid credentials and who meet the admission requirements and other conditions prescribed by the Admission Office in the University which they seek enrollment. Admission to the collegiate level of LNU, a student applicant should comply with the following documentary requirements:
  • Freshman enrolling in college for the first time shall present, accomplish or submit the following: a. Senior High/High School Report Card (Form 138) b. Two (2) copies passport size picture c. One (1) Photocopy of Senior High School Diploma d. One (1) Photocopy of PSA Birth certificate e. One (1) Certificate of Good Moral Character f. One (1) Photocopy of PSA Marriage Contract (if applicable) g. One (1) Original Certificate of Residency (*for UNIFAST applicants only)
  • Transferees and Second Degree shall conform to the requirements and conditions set by the college or academic department where they want to enroll and shall present the following: a. Transfer Credentials b. One (1) Certification of Grades c. One (1) Cert. of Good Moral Character d. Two (2) Passport Size Pictures e. One (1) Photocopy of PSA Birth Certificate f. One (1) Photocopy of PSA Marriage Contract (if applicable) g. One (1) Original Certificate of Residency (*for transferees UNIFAST applicants only).
  • Graduates from a degree program at L-NU who wish to enroll in another degree program are not required to submit enrollment documents since they are considered as old students.
  • Shifters – student who may wish to transfer from one college to another within this University may submit a written request or petition during the enrolment period to the Dean or Head concerned for his approval and shall present the following: a. Fill out the shifter form from Academic Affairs Office. b. After accomplishing the form, present it to the c. Registrar’s Office for filing in their folder. d. Evaluation of Credits from previous program.
  • Continuing Enrollment. Students previously enrolled in the college and desiring to continue their studies shall meet all the requirements for continuance of enrollment in the college or academic department concerned.

FACILITIES AVAILABILITY
Library The University has 2 libraries (General and Medical) in the university campus. The Medical library has a large number of books, journals, international journals and periodicals etc. The libraries offer well-furnished, and air-conditioned reading rooms with seating capacity of over 200 person at a time.
Sports The university has both indoor and outdoor sports facilities in the campus like table tennis, basketball, volleyball, 400-meter running track, tennis court, etc. The university is one of the members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

Hostel Description

The university has a hostel for students and faculty in which they are providing a well-furnished room with all the necessary amenities like bed, chair, mattress, air-conditioner, etc. Hostels are having the seating capacity of 1000 person at a time.
