In 1920, Kuban State Medical University was founded and one of the oldest and leading universities in Kuban and Russia respectively. Its structure includes 7 faculties of medical, pediatric, dental, medical and preventive, pharmaceutical, faculty of pre-university training and the faculty of advanced training and professional retraining of specialists. Furthermore, the university contains 66 departments, clinic, and dental clinic. Government of Russian Federation is the founder of the university and the power of founders are exercised by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
The Kuban State Medical University was accredited for 5 years with the establishment of the state status of the type “University of Higher Education” which is on the basis of a decision of the Accreditation Board of the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science in December 2016. According to the license of the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science No. 2407 of September 26, 2016, university conducts general educational activities in the field of pre-university training, in the field of higher professional education in the specialties which includes General Medicine, Pediatrics, Medico and preventive care, Dentistry, Pharmacy. Moreover in addition, university is also having a license for honey activities for the dental clinic and basic obstetric-gynecological clinic. Russia always faces the problem of the quality of training of specialists in their high schools but in the present stage of the socio-economic development of the state, the quality of the training has acquired particular relevance which is due to a number of factors.
In Russia, the university holds a place in the structure of higher professional education because of the quality management system of professional education. Representatives of the Russian Register Certification Association conducted an audit of the university’s quality management system in June 2010, which issued a certificate of compliance with the requirements of the international standard Quality Management System ISO 9001 – 2008. Multi-level nature of educational process management is reflected by this system which increases the prestige and status of the diploma at the international level. Through postgraduate and postgraduate studies and faculty of advanced training, the development of scientific and pedagogical potential is carried out. As per the results of monitoring conducted in August by the State University – Higher School of Economics which is commissioned by the “Public Chamber”, this university is one of the ten largest universities in Russia and holds 9th place in medical universities of Russia.
In university, there are 624 faculty members from which 123 are doctors and 371 are the candidates of science. In teachers, there are 2 corresponding members of foreign and Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, 27 academicians and correspondent members of foreign and Russian academics, 2 honored scientists of the Russian Federation, 1 laureate of the prize of the Government of the Russian Federation, 1 laureate of the State Prize, 16 honored doctors of the Russian Federation, 4 honored health workers of the Russian Federation, 1 honored inventor of the Russian Federation, 1 Honoured Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation, 36 Honoured Workers of Health of the Kuban, 23 Honoured Workers of Science of the Kuban, 3 Honoured Workers of Science of the Republic of Adygea, and 2 Sorov professors.
The university has 900 classrooms and laboratories, 12 computer classes, 12 lecture halls that can accommodate about 1,600 people to organize the educational process. Students learning are both in traditional and innovative form with widely used technologies, multimedia devices and web. In higher education- specialty programs, 5554 students are students in present and this university is in 5 universities which work with biological material. Also, phantom learning is developing. On the basis of interdepartmental phantom class in 2009, the center of practical skills was created and it is designed to conduct practical classes, current and intermediate certification and final state certification of the degree of mastering of practical professional skills by students and students of the faculty of advanced training and professional retraining of specialists.
This center allows solving the fundamentally important problems of medical education to master the skill of a doctor without harming the patient. On the basis of a grant from the Government of the Russian Federation on 7th November 2012, the International Research Clinical Research Center for Regenerative Medicine was opened on the basis of the Kuban State Medical University. This centre is equipped with the most modern standards equipment which will become a platform for the development and implementation of the latest technologies. Moreover, it also gives a platform for training specialists in the field of regenerative medicine with the exchange of knowledge and experience.

The university has total 4 hostels in the university in which the university is providing well-furnished rooms with all the necessary facilities like a bed, mattress, cafeteria, WIFI Internet facility, etc. One room can be shared by 2-3 people depending upon the rooms' size. It has 1977 beds to accommodate students. The hostels have kitchens, rooms for eating, rooms for washing, and ironing. All hostels are equipped with fire alarm and warning systems, as well as equipped with the necessary fire equipment.
