Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University is formerly known as Lviv State Medical Institute. It is one of the oldest and reputed medical university of Ukraine. It is one of the main medical universities of the IV level of accreditation. LNMU starts from the Medical Faculty of Lviv University from November 16, 1784. According to the performance indicators of LNMU named after Danylo Halytsky, it occupies leading positions in the rankings among higher education institutions and higher medical educational institutions of Ukraine.
Lviv National Medical University named after Danylo Halytsky unites 6 faculties, a medical college, 78 departments (including 47 clinical, as well as 19 basics for higher medical educational institutions of Ukraine), 14 educational buildings, Dental Medical Center, educational industrial pharmacy, training simulation center, botanical garden, CNDL and laboratory of industrial toxicology, a research institute of epidemiology and hygiene, a research center for antitumor testing, scientific library, 9 dormitories, student nutrition complex, 4 museums, 3 art groups of which have the title of People's, sports and recreation camp "Medic".
LNMU gives admission to international students to undergrad education at the Faculty of General Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry and Faculty of Pharmacy, additionally gives admission to Preparatory Course and Postgraduate Training.
The yearly college measure of students is more than 19100, which consists of 5426 undergraduate students (including more than 1000 international students), 62 students of Preparatory Course, about 1500 internship doctors, 50 students of Masters program, 70 students of a PhD program, 70 Postgraduate specialists (Clinichna Ordynatura), around 11000 students of Faculty of Postgraduate doctors, 312 students of Medical College.
About 2746 students are studying at 38 departments here. 484 foreigners are studying at the faculty as well. The teaching process is carried out by 500 teachers – academicians, professors, assistant professors, senior teachers, and assistants. The annual university number of students is more than 19100 persons, which includes 5426 undergraduate students (including more than 1000 foreign students), 62 students of Preparatory Course, more than 1500 internship doctors, 50 students of Master's program, 70 students of a PhD program, 70 Postgraduate doctors (Clinichna Ordynatura), around 11000 students of Faculty of Postgraduate training, 312 students of Medical College. Students of all Faculties study according to the credit-module system. University library contains more than 530000 volumes of textbooks, manuals, and other relevant medical literature. The library has modern computer equipment In 2011 the first graduation of students, who studied according to the demands of "Bologna" process, took place.
Clinical departments of University have the fund of more than 10000 beds (41 affiliated hospitals), 9 polyclinic departments with 3510 attendances during a shift, University dental medical center for more than 2000 attendances during shift.

The institute has 8 hostels in the campus with single, double, and triple occupancy rooms are available. Students can choose one of them based on their needs, requirement, and budget. All the rooms are equipped with beds, tables, mattresses, etc and 1 common washroom is provided for the two rooms. All rooms in hostels are centrally heated and every floor of the hostel is having a common kitchen that can be used by every student of that particular floor. The hostel is a few Kilometres away from the main campus of the university.
